At just shy of 110 feet (33.38 meters) LOA, hull number one in the Horizon FD110 series is preparing to head to U.S. shores from the shipyard. She’s the largest FD Series project so far, too.
Named for her Fast Displacement hull form, the FD 110 has a specially shaped bulbous bow, which Horizon calls a High Performance Piercing Bow. She also has twin 1,900-hp Caterpillars to make trips to the islands or along the long Eastern Seaboard possible.
The voluminous design and 24’6” (7.47-meter) beam combine to make relaxation and entertaining all the more enjoyable. It starts with the first steps onboard, since the main aft deck has a bar and two barstools. A hi-lo extendable table is here, too, for cocktails or full meals. Yet another convertible dining table lies inside (below), becoming a breakfast bar when everyone would rather slowly sip their morning coffee. Regardless of time of day, sliding glass doors add to the refreshing ambience. On yet another note, conveniently, Horizon includes a day head aft in the saloon that’s further accessible from the aft deck.
Since alfresco living is the yachting way, the Horizon FD 110 offers several areas to suit. For instance, enjoy cocktails on the foredeck, thanks to a refrigerator and icemaker, or soak in the hot tub while you soak in the sights. Sunshades let you cool off in the midday heat. Sunpads welcome you and your friends to the sundeck, as does a bar. Down one level, a settee on the boat deck converts into yet another sunpad, again with a removable shade. The chef can cook up the catch of the day on the nearby barbecue as well.
Speaking of the crew, your captain will appreciate the ability to dock and maneuver the megayacht from the sundeck. It comes via pre-wiring for a plug-in remote control. Wing stations to each side of the wheelhouse are standard as well. Privacy while navigating comes from a raising window between the helm and skylounge. Of course, it lowers for conversations about your next destination.
With a main-deck master suite (top) and four staterooms below, the Horizon FD 110 features washed wenge, along with accents in dark-stained oak and walnut. Grey lacquer lends a contemporary feel, as does polished chrome and pops of color.
Horizon Yachts USA is hosting visits onboard later this summer.
