If you haven’t finalized your summer cruising plans, consider booking one of the world’s most famous yachts. There’s still time to enjoy Octopus for charter in the Caribbean this summer.
Octopus, of course, rose to fame upon delivery by Lürssen in 2003 to the late Paul Allen of Microsoft. The 414-footer (126.2-meter) was the largest motoryacht of that year and further noteworthy for focusing on true globetrotting. The current owner acquired her last year for not just personal travel, but also charter around the world.
While she’ll be chartering in Antarctica later this year, the next several months see her exploring warm-water islands. This new video gives you a taste of what your trip will be like. Anyone who books Octopus for charter, for instance, can take along several friends and family, since she accommodates 12 guests in 13 staterooms. If you’re the primary charterer, then you have a dedicated owner’s deck, with its own elevator, too. Start your day however you wish: perhaps with a swim in the large pool, or with a rousing game of basketball with your friends. Yes, Octopus has a basketball court right out on one of her seven luxury decks.
If on-water activity is more your style, the crew can launch one of seven tenders or multiple PWCs, electric foiling boards, and more. Additionally, trips to shore for shopping or enjoying the sights come simply, via a floating tender bay. Abundant dive gear is aboard as well. Budding scientists in your party will be thrilled to know that Octopus has a science hub, which oceanographic explorers used to find long-lost shipwrecks and important maritime artefacts.
Pre- or post-dinner, relax in Octopus’ terrific saloon bar (top), where guitars hang on the wall and a piano keeps you entertained. Wrap up your day with a good movie and some popcorn in the onboard cinema.
Such an iconic large megayacht comes with an equally grand weekly rate. It starts at $2.2 million.
