A yacht with a name like Project X should have an equally mysterious name for her tenders, shouldn’t she? That explains Limo X, the custom limousine tender you’ll see accompanying her 289-foot (88-meter) mothership.
The new Golden Yachts delivery, which is debuting at next week’s Monaco Yacht Show, is a “game-changing superyacht,” according to George Riginos, CEO of Onda Tenders, which built Limo X. Making her immediately recognizable, she has a series of stacked Xs alongside her superstructure. They partially conceal giant panes of glass and therefore keep prying eyes from seeing the owners and guests while inside. But, they don’t prevent anyone who’s inside the yacht enjoy the scenery surrounding them. Additionally, the glass rises up alongside a three-deck atrium, with a glass elevator riding up inside the atrium, too. Golden Yachts says this elevator is among the largest glass lifts aboard a yacht.
As for Limo X, naturally she matches her mothership. So, she, too, has prominent Xs on her windows. Similarly, those Xs don’t impede the views for the 12 guests who can enjoy air-conditioned comfort at thrilling speeds inside.
This is because the limo tender isn’t just a shuttle to take everyone from the superyacht to shore. Specifically, at 31’8” (9.7 meters) LOA, Limo X reportedly can hit a top speed of 46 knots. Power comes from twin 220-hp Volvo Pentas, handled via joystick at the helm outside. “Even though you might be traveling at some speed, it is a highly calming and peaceful experience,” Riginos asserts. Onda Tenders applied further sound insulation throughout the entire cabin to achieve this.
With a beam of 9’4” (2.9 meters), the tender has custom leather seating and custom woodwork in pale tones in her cabin. The look is understated elegance. Keeping her lines clean outside, meanwhile, Onda Tenders equipped Limo X with a wrap-around protective fender, from Fender Innovations.
This is the third time that Onda Tenders has worked with Golden Yachts, a fellow Greek company. Previously, it supplied limo tenders for O’Ptasia in 2018 and O’Pari in 2020.
