Likened to “a Jaguar SUV,” a strong-but-soft explorer yacht originally for an experienced owner can be yours within two years. The second RMK 120 yacht is currently under construction, with time to tailor her to your liking.
Commissioned as the RMK 120 Seven Seas, the superyacht results from the Dutch design studio Vripack teaming with the Turkish shipyard RMK Marine. The duo has previously worked together five times. Despite her 121-foot (37-meter) length, her design brief called for “everything that you typically have in a 50-meter, 500-gross-ton boat,” explains Bart Bouwhuis, co-creative director at Vripack.
For instance, you’d expect a 50-meter (164-footer) to have transatlantic range. The RMK 120 yacht should be capable of covering 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots under Caterpillar power. Global cruising was one of the top priorities of her owner, in fact. Along those same lines, since world travels can sometimes mean encountering big seas, the small superyacht has a high bow, to deflect them.
A globetrotter typically carries lots of toys, too. To that end, this project has a surprisingly large, 592-square-foot (55-square-meter) tender deck. That’s enough for two 25-footers (7.5-meters) to sit. Even more space is in the lazarette, where a RIB can stow.

That roominess results from smart space planning, of course, as well as the 28-foot (nearly 9-meter) beam. Because the owner and his family intended to spend a lot of time onboard, extra comfort was quite important. You can benefit from healthy-size staterooms for 12, and ample lounging space inside and out. Floor-to-ceiling windows enhance the sensation of space inside. Outside, meanwhile, a prime place to spend time together is aft on the bridge deck. Here, the overhang of the superstructure provides welcome shade on hot days.
Due to her combination of rugged looks and luxurious amenities, Bouwhuis says, “This steel-hulled yacht is like a Jaguar SUV.”
The RMK 120 yacht’s asking price is €16 million, exclusively through Althaus Yachts.
