What better place for an owner to take his new fast yacht than the annual Monaco Grand Prix? The buyer of Caffeine, the first Pershing GTX116 megayacht, headed straight to Monte Carlo for a prime racetrack spot.
The megayacht model, the start of a new style direction for Pershing, mixed sport-fly style and speed with family-friendly, at-the-water relaxation. Pershing customers increasingly had been asking for this type of crossover combination. As Caffeine shows, the historical family profile of Pershing is still present, just with more noticeable near-sea comforts. In fact, 1,615 square feet (150 square meters) of space aft puts guests in proximity to swimming, using watertoys, and more. All of this, aboard a 116-footer (34.24-meter).
Additionally, the transom bulkhead splits in half to open up even more space. The bulkhead sections lift up and stow flush with the remainder of the bulkhead. Therefore, the long swim platform essentially becomes one with the cockpit lounging area.
The owner of the first Pershing GTX116 chose a grey and blue color scheme to call attention to the striking lines. The blue shade covers the deckhouse, creating a contrast with the rest.
It should prove to be a dazzling combination when the superyacht speeds along the horizon. Pershing engineered her for a cruising speed of 29½ knots with the optional triple MAN engine package. This same package should allow a maximum speed of 35½ knots. (Other subsequent Pershing GTX116 buyers are taking the standard, lower-horsepower MTU package. Although still a triple-engine setup, it should allow a top end of 29½ knots.)
Don’t be surprised eventually to see this yacht in U.S. waters. The owner is an American.
