Global interest in multi-hulls continues, so Silver Yachts is among the shipyards creating what these cruising customers want. It’s further why the Australian yard has started Hull 803, the third SilverCat yacht, on spec.
Hull number one, Spacecat (below), sea trialed in July 2022 and saw delivery in October 2022. Yet another customer has already signed on for hull number two, which is under construction. All three specifically are 36M SilverCat models, measuring 118 feet LOA. The series includes a few smaller models, too, down to 72 feet (22 meters).
Like Silver Yachts’ large superyachts, the SilverCat yacht series prioritizes lightweight, low-resistance hulls. Good fuel burn and overall turns of speed should result from a quadruple Volvo Penta IPS propulsion package. Cruising speed, for example, should be between 12 and 14 knots. Top speed, meanwhile, should be around 21 knots. The IPS system has long proven to burn about 30 percent less fuel in comparison to traditional diesel engines as well.
Equally big draws for the SilverCat yacht are the styling by Espen Øino and the expansive deck areas resulting from the catamaran configuration. Interior areas alone spread out over 3,229 square feet (300 square meters). The suggested stateroom arrangement takes advantage of all of this space. It includes two twin cabins with Pullmans below decks, plus another twin stateroom on the main deck. While the master suite sits on the main deck, too, a VIP goes on the upper deck. A 12-person passenger capacity for a 118-footer just wouldn’t be as comfortable or practical if the yacht were a monohull.
The all-aluminum SilverCat Hull 803 certainly provides abundant alfresco areas as well. The sundeck offers 1,058 square feet (98.3 square meters) for loose lounges, a bar, a dining area, and/or other amenities. While you can also stow a RIB or other small tender up here, a transformer platform between the hulls right by the waterline can do the same. Finally, a pool is a welcome social area on the main aft deck.
Since construction is still in the early stages, buyers can tailor the arrangement and the interior design as they so wish. The owner of Spacecat collaborated with Pulina Exclusive Interiors, but Silver Yachts’ own interiors department can work with customers as well.
Silver Yachts has signed on with Fraser Yachts as the central agent to sell the SilverCat Hull 803. Peter Redford, director of Fraser Australia, considers the yacht “one of the most exciting projects available under construction in today’s market.”
