In the city of Viareggio, Italy in 1973, a young man by the name of Lorenzo Benetti established a shipbuilding business. Today, that business continues, as Benetti, one of the world’s most successful yacht and superyacht builders. It’s celebrating its 150th anniversary in several ways, including one which any yacht enthusiast can enjoy. This commemorative Benetti book, in a silk slipcase, includes never-before-seen photos and inside-the-shipyard moments.
The Benetti book is part of the Legends Collection of Assouline, the book publisher and luxury-lifestyle company. Additionally, the 200-page book takes you inside some of the builder’s extraordinary 400 deliveries. It introduces you to some of its most famous clients, too, like the late musician David Bowie.
Learn more about the Benetti book in the February edition of the Megayacht News newsletter. Sent on a subscriber-only basis to more than 1,500 people, it contains information that we don’t feature here on the daily updated website.
So, for example, this month we spotlight a new sailcloth from North Sails in which 90 percent of the material comes from recycled or otherwise renewable resources. It’s the company’s latest step toward more sustainable products, and it follows intensive research and testing. Additionally, we share news from EYOS Expeditions. It’s offering select charters with Levinson Wood, a best-selling author, photographer, docu-series producer, and explorer, to come aboard to educate you.
