Blue and white confetti filled the air as hull number one of the Custom Line 50 series slipped into the water on June 8. It was quite the family affair, too. The owner of the yacht Asante and his family were on hand for the christening and celebration. So were with the craftspeople and their families.
Announced as the Custom Line Navetta 50 in 2022, the Custom Line 50 series is the first metal megayacht for the brand. Specifically, she’s aluminum. Between her nearly 164-foot (50-meter) length and construction material, she “opens up a new market segment for Custom Line,” notes Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group’s CEO. Rather than simply add a bigger boat to its lineup, though, the Ferretti Group team chose to provide customers with attractive features not necessarily found elsewhere.
For instance, the yacht Asante has four decks, atypical for superyachts of her dimensions. The design concept, originating in house, still keeps volume at 499 gross tons, however. Yet another distinguishing feature, the master suite is on the upper deck. In fact, it sits fully forward, rimmed by full-height windows and boasting access to a private alfresco area. Whether soaking up some sun on a sunpad or enjoying an anchorage’s scenery, the owner has enviable private space. Notably, too, the master suite occupies about half of the floorspace of the upper deck. Projects much larger than the Custom Line 50 typically exclusively offer all of these benefits to owners. Yet, a captain and crew head count of nine easily can handle operations—fewer than larger yachts require.
Since 10 family members and friends can cruise aboard the yacht Asante as well, several social spaces stand out. Primarily, the open-air beach club should be popular. A long pool spans the beam, for example, just a few feet from the sea. The beach area is steps down from the saloon, too, which can become an extension of the alfresco lounge.
Following some private time onboard, the owner of Asante will allow this first Custom Line 50 to appear at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
