Perhaps preferring to surprise yachting clients rather than give everything away, The Italian Sea Group has released just scant looks at its latest launch. The yacht Jas, from its Admiral Yachts division, recently celebrated her launch and christening. The scant looks won’t last long, though, since the megayacht makes her debut at this month’s Monaco Yacht Show.
The project is a 220-footer (67-meter) with leisure areas spread across five decks. Although The Italian Sea Group is revealing little about her, the area just beyond the glass could be an atrium. Regardless, the builder does say that the owner wanted a stronger-than-usual connection between alfresco and interior areas. In fact, the idea was for them essentially to feel like expansive hybrid zones, seamlessly switching from one purpose or pleasure to another. They’ll do so depending on what the owner and guests feel like, for instance, plus what the weather holds. Additionally, they’ll adapt to it being daytime or nighttime.
The owner tapped Mark Berryman for interior design, with The Italian Sea Group’s own design team responsible for the layout. Berryman and The Italian Sea Group previously joined forces for the slightly smaller yacht Life Saga, a 2019 delivery. Notably, that yacht played a big role in the development of the yacht Jas. “The original brief was to evoke the same sensation as M/Y Life Saga,” Berryman explains. This therefore explains features like the large swath of glass to each side amidships. Overall, streamlined, modern looks inside and outside were important. Further important, of course, was the owner’s own personality.
The Italian Sea Group’s own cabinetry division, Celi 1920, custom made many aspects of the interior for that purpose. The yacht Jas has an overall subdued color palette, from wall paneling to soles and furnishings. This isn’t to say that it’s monochromatic, however. Rather, warm whites, sandy tones, and beiges flow throughout, bringing a comfortable casualness to the rooms. Additionally, with Berryman, the owner chose still-natural but noticeably distinct accent colors. Here, too, the colors range from one end of the spectrum to the other: biscuit-like beige to chocolate brown.
The Italian Sea Group is booking limited appointments to see the yacht Jas at the Monaco Yacht Show.
