Among all the watertoys that have debuted in recent decades, the Seabob certainly has taken the superyacht business by storm. The very first model premiered upwards of 20 years ago, in fact. Since then, these colorful water scooters have been appearing in tender garages from Palm Beach to Palma de Mallorca. Speaking of Palm Beach, the Seabob F9 made its U.S. premiere at the Palm Beach International Yacht Show in March. It offers new opportunities for on- and under-the-water fun.
Like its predecessors, the Seabob F9 is super sleek, taking design cues from high-performance sports cars. Additionally, it lets you zip across the surface of the water, or take a dive to check out colorful coral and more. The manufacturer, Germany-based Cayago, did incorporate some differences, though. Firstly, it wanted to make the design lighter in weight. The Seabob 9 therefore weighs a little more than 44 pounds (20 kilograms). That’s much less than the touted low weight of the F5, specifically 64 pounds (29 kilograms). Secondly, the new series has a longer battery life, one hour in Sport mode—a.k.a. surface mode.
