CLC115 Yacht, 1st Superyacht Catamaran From CL Yachts

CL Yachts has been re-thinking traditional yacht design and layouts for several years. The shipyard, known for the CL X series and CLB series, now has the C Series, comprised of catamarans. The first model is the CLC115 yacht, which marries the benefits of multihulls to the more environmentally conscious choices superyacht owners increasingly seek.

With a length of 118’5” (36.1 meters), the CLC115 yacht is also a trideck, a rarity in this size range. To ensure that its entry into catamarans was a success, CL Yachts approached Incat Crowther, which has earned renown for its multihull designs. The naval-architecture studio is responsible for numerous catamarans and trimarans, in fact.

Rather than being just a twin-hulled megayacht, CL Yachts’ CLC115 yacht has a few pleasant surprises when it comes to the layout. For instance, the master suite is on the main deck, with an expanse of windows, including skylights. The skylights and the floorplan both take advantage of the full 34’5” (10.5 -meter) beam. Another surprise is a flexible main-deck room. It can be a fifth guest stateroom, complementing the four standard guest cabins. But, as an alternative, it can be a gym, a massage room, or—ideal for couples with a growing family—a nursery.

Speaking of the guest cabins, they’re not split between the two hulls, which is what every other mega-cat does. Instead, the CLC115 yacht puts them on what CL Yachts calls the mid deck, a.k.a. upper deck. It’s the level between the main deck and sundeck, where the wheelhouse further sits. The cabins for the eight crewmembers are in the hulls, as is their mess.

Naturally, being a semi-custom project, the CLC115 yacht offers buyers wide personalization for alfresco areas and interiors alike. CL Yachts and Supertomato Design, responsible for interior design, have multiple open-plan layouts to consider as starting points. Supertomato Design further incorporates rounded and organic shapes in the suggested designs, pairing them with neutral colors. Being able to select environmentally-minded décor materials lends additional peace of mind for buyers.

To lend peace of mind while cruising, CL Yachts has hybrid propulsion available for the RINA-classed series. With either the standard MANs or the hybrid system, the shipyard anticipates a top speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots. Also regardless of propulsion choice, CL Yachts builds each CLC115 resin-infused hull in one shot. The lightweight construction aids in performance. Should buyers want to reduce diesel consumption even more, they can add solar panels to feed battery banks. To top it all off, CL Yachts intends to equip each superyacht with smart-home controls to manage air conditioning, lighting, and other hotel loads.

With fold-down platforms complementing the lifting swim platform, the CLC115 yacht series will start construction on contract. Outside of the United States, Canada, and South America, Camper & Nicholsons has the central listing.
