Benetti FB291, the Yacht Project Ironman, Flexes Her Style

The custom megayacht code named the yacht Project Ironman has entered her outfitting stage in Italy. The Benetti FB291 hull and superstructure are currently at Benetti’s Livorno shipyard, having transferred this week.

Although Benetti has other custom projects and multiple semi-custom yachts in various stages of construction, this contract is particularly significant. The owner is a repeat customer, stepping up in size from an undisclosed superyacht from several years ago. According to the shipyard, the owner wanted something bigger for cruising with his multi-generational family.

An abundance of alfresco dining areas and lounges as well as interior lounges will accommodate the family. The owner has been working with Cassetta Yacht Designers to shape the profile and arrange the interior. Note, for instance, the plumb bow and gently sloping stern. Encompassing six decks, the Benetti FB291/yacht Project Ironman is quite voluminous and therefore should welcome the family handily.

Neither the shipyard nor the design team can reveal details about staterooms, family-focused gathering areas, or technical systems. But, it’s likely that the superyacht has a pool. It’s additionally likely that she has a beach club, with at least one fold-down side—indicated by the bare-metal hatch toward the stern, with three windows. That could further mean the beach club will be usable when the room is fully buttoned up.

Regardless, Giorgio M. Cassetta, head of Cassetta Yacht Designers, did share some thoughts on the working relationship two years ago. “We are honored to create a new, beautiful design for a client that showed us his love from our very first meeting five years ago,” he says. Just as FB291 is the second time the owner is working with Benetti, so, too, is she the second time he’s working with Cassetta. “The great attention that he and his family dedicated to the definition of the design will be instrumental to the creation of a new masterpiece,” he asserts.

Launch is on pace for late 2028.
