A customer inquiry has led Hargrave Custom Yachts to partner with VesselVanguard for online management and organization of service manuals, maintenance records, and more.
VesselVanguard is essentially a virtual filing system, offering password-protected VesselVanguard Boat Profiles to small-boat owners and megayacht owners alike. If you’ve seen the number of binders even a “small” megayacht has pertaining to her systems, you can imagine that having them all online is far simpler. A bonus: VesselVanguard customizes maintenance calendars and alerts you well in advance when service should be done.
Hargrave Custom Yachts learned about the company when the owner of a 125-foot megayacht it built requested having it onboard. After further research into VesselVanguard’s services, Hargrave Custom Yachts decided to make it available to its client base, about 100 owners of yachts and megayachts to 135 feet. Mike DiCondina, president of Hargrave Custom Yachts, says that its yachts can have 150 or more systems aboard. Therefore, owners and their captains can have a pretty detailed VesselVanguard Boat Profile, with a digital master equipment list, manuals library, and monthly maintenance reminders. Hargrave’s own management team will also receive the maintenance notifications, for after-sales service.
Here’s how it works. VesselVanguard provides around-the-clock access via a desktop PC, iPad tablet, or a smartphone. As the sample screenshot here shows, VesselVanguard creates at-a-glance tasks lists based on each system manufacturer’s recommended service intervals. You and your captain get email and text notifications a month to two months in advance when a maintenance task is due. It specifies what the system is and the exact service required. You can always check the Status category to see whether something is pending or completed, and icons like a green check mark to the right of that further convey details. After service is completed, you or your captain enter the date and related data and documents to become part of the digital file.
The real advantage comes in VesselVanguard automatically re-calculating the next needed service interval, based on that information and more. The programmers behind VesselVanguard “taught” the system to analyze things like hours of use as well as days passed.
VesselVanguard can organize additional important documents, too. These include berth rentals and insurance.
