Simpson Bay in St. Maarten sees its fair share of megayachts each year, particularly during the Christmas-New Year’s holidays. A new marina there plans to open just in time for that popular period, and to entice owners even more, it’s offering a free residence – yes, free – upon the purchase of one of its 11 superyacht slips.
The marina is part of Porto Cupecoy, a resort being developed by the famed Orient-Express hotel company. It’s on the western end of Simpson Bay Lagoon and will accommodate megayachts to 300 feet, beginning in December. An additional 43 slips are dedicated to smaller yachts and boats.
The management team believes the resort setting will appeal to owners and their guests looking for more on-site activities than the other St. Maarten locales provide. In fact, the team refers to the marina as a “white-glove marina,” offering concierge assistance, provisioning, and other services in addition to village boutiques and restaurants. Porto Cupecoy’s marina managers will also serve as rental agents on the behalf of yacht owners who purchase a slip and wish to lease it out when it’s unoccupied. This, they claim, is something no other St. Maarten facility offers.
Of course, there are also the customary dockside services, such as WiFi, electrical and water hookups, and fueling. A bank, pharmacy, and grocery store are also on site.
Upon the purchase of a slip, owners will be able to choose from a selection of condos ($500,000 maximum value) set aside by Porto Cupecoy. Overall, there are 182 one- to four-bedroom condos, designed by Marc-Michaels Interior Design, a firm you might recognize from its work aboard megayachts. Residents can use Porto Cupecoy’s tennis courts, fitness center, and pool. Car and tender rentals are additionally on the property, as are water shuttles to the airport.
The free condo offer is valid on slip purchases made now through January 29, 2010. Slips range from $1.5 to $3 million. For further details, visit the Porto Cupecoy Web site or call +599-545-2318.
