Sunseeker’s newest megayacht, the 28 Metre Yacht, will be shown for the first time at the London Boat Show next month.
At an LOA of 92 feet, the Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht is the smaller sister to the 40 Metre Yacht (131 feet). However, she’s daringly different in design. Compare her looks with those of the 40 Metre—indeed, pretty much any other Sunseeker—and she’s far more radical. It’s mostly due to the large swath of smoked glass forward. That glass isn’t just a monstrous windshield, it’s the entire overhead of the saloon, and even the walls. The glass wraps down each side and flows aft to sliding doors separating the alfresco areas from the interior. Furthermore, the glass does so without pillars, bulkheads, or other visual supports. Sunseeker wanted owners and guests to enjoy panoramic views in a way never before achieved. The UK-based builder certainly succeeded in that respect, as no other megayacht in this size range offers anything close to it.
Similar to the 40 Metre Yacht, the Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht allows owner input into the general arrangement and decor. Hull number one features a four-cabin layout below decks, two of which are VIP staterooms. (Alternately, one of the VIPs can be a twin cabin.) The master stateroom is, naturally, full beam. While it’s hard to detect in the photo here, hull number one also has the optional fold-down balcony on the side deck, and optional sliding doors just inboard. These doors lead to the saloon, make the living area more of an indoor-outdoor space. It’s hard to imagine that most buyers for the 28 Metre Yacht will decide against the upgrades, enhancing the already comfortable 21’6″ (6.54-meter) beam.
It’s also hard to imagine owners not wanting a hot tub and a sunpad on the flying bridge, nor a bar with barstools. Sunseeker will arrange the deck with tender stowage and a crane instead, if you so wish. The hardtop, constructed of carbon fiber, is another option.
Just like all other Sunseekers, the Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht has a good turn of speed. She’s reportedly capable of a 29-knot top end and 23-knot cruising speed, based on a variety of engine packages.
The London Boat Show is being held January 6 to 15. Sunseeker will have a total of 14 yachts at its stand, including the 40 Metre, Predator 115, Predator 84, and 80 Yacht. For more information directly from Sunseeker about the 28 Metre or other megayachts, fill out this form.
