In its ongoing effort to bring sleek, sporty, coupe-styled superyachts to the marketplace, ISA Yachts is making quite a statement with its latest design proposal. Project Crossbow is a 328-foot (100-meter), a most unusual size for this design. That’s part of the intent. With naval architecture and interior design by Hydro Tec, Crossbow shows what else is possible for both this styling and this size range.
In fact, while Hydro Tec came up with the concept a few months ago, ISA Yachts is now the build partner. It considers Crossbow to be the flagship of its coupe offerings. If she goes to contract, she’ll be an overall flagship for the shipyard, too. The largest ISA Yachts delivery to date is Okto, a 218-footer (66-meter) from 2014.
Unlike Okto, though, which has a steel hull, Crossbow is entirely aluminum. Further unlike Okto, which is part of the Granturismo series, this new design embraces the ideas of speed and high performance. How does a top speed of 25 knots under MTU power sound? Given her sleek appearance and abundance of glass, the yacht should look like a bullet cutting across the water at that speed. And, her draft of 11’5” (3.5 meters) is a bit shallower than similar-size yachts. Therefore, Crossbow could access some areas off limits to ultra-large megayachts.
Getting back to the glass for a moment, Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec gives the yacht a massive, curved windshield. Interestingly, however, the wheelhouse doesn’t sit behind that glass. Rather, a two-level-high lounge does. Of course, the designer has additional layouts available to further pique interest. These include putting a private owners’ deck on the upper level. Alternately, the owners’ suite can sit forward on the upper level, with other common relaxation areas aft.
Bearing a 41-foot (12.5-meter) beam, Crossbow offers several flexible arrangements, in fact. Overall, she has accommodations for an owners’ party of 16, plus 32 crewmembers. Whatever a customer ultimately wishes to do, he or she should note that Hydro Tec has already calculated lightweight fixed furnishings outside. They’re protected from breezes, too, in several areas. And, when it comes to watertoys, Crossbow does not disappoint. She has a foredeck heli hangar, and a garage adjacent to the 1,453-square-foot (135-square-meter) beach club. It can hold two 31-foot (9.5-meter) custom tenders, plus more.
