Clear blue skies greeted Madsummer, one of the largest deliveries set for this calendar year, as she headed off for sea trials in Germany this week. The 312-foot (95-meter) megayacht should be in her experienced owner’s hands in just a few more weeks, in time to enjoy the summer.
According to publicly available data from AIS, the yacht achieved a speed of 17 knots during some of her sea trials, on the Baltic Sea. She should continue undergoing more systems tests on open water.
Launched in March, the yacht belongs to a cruiser who has christened a few yachts as Madsummer in recent years. Speaking of christenings, this video below, from Lürssen, includes the moment the champagne bottle broke across her bow.
The video also shows the styling work of Harrison Eidsgaard, along with some of the creature comforts. Note, for instance, a large helipad on her foredeck. Back aft, on the main deck, you’ll see a swimming pool. Guests who want to do laps will be able to indulge, since it measures 39 feet (12 meters) long.
The interior design is still under publicity wraps, at least in terms of renderings and photos. But, the owner and guests have a beach club as well as a spa to enjoy. The spa further includes a fold-down balcony. Plenty of sunlight will brighten interior spaces, partly due to a skylight on the uppermost deck. Madsummer surrounds guests with colors coming from the sea, to heighten the sense of being out on the oceans and bays. In addition, interior designer Laura Sessa worked with the owner to incorporate custom decor accents aimed at creating a relaxing, yet still elegant, ambiance. She terms the approach as being both playful and practical. She adds, “The result will be absolutely stunning.”
