“It’s a wonderful build milestone to see her outside,” says Capt. Fraser Gow, who will soon take the helm of the first Amels 206. His soon-to-be new charge took to the water for the first time yesterday. “We’re all very excited to commence sea trials and commissioning of all her systems ahead of delivery,” he adds.
The Amels 206, part of the Limited Editions series, was announced in 2017. Straight away, yacht watchers recognized some similar styling elements to the Amels 199 (since retired). Notably, this 205-footer (62.5-meter) has eye-catching, large circular ports along each side. Although they aren’t visible here, comparable ports line up along her transom. The two series (as well as the rest of the Limited Editions range) share the same designer, Tim Heywood.
Helping to draw more attention to those ports, as well as the overall exterior look, the owner chose a white superstructure and light-grey hull. Gow says the shipyard staff did “an exceptional job, particularly on the finish, which you can really appreciate now she’s outside.”
With a volume of 1,161 gross tons and beam of 34 feet (10.3 meters), the Amels 206 accommodates an owner’s party of 12. While this owner prefers keeping details about the interior decor quiet, at least for now, he did collaborate with the designer Laura Sessa. Among the highlights, the megayacht has two VIPs on the bridge deck. The above-mentioned round ports denote the master suite on the main deck, too. The owner, friends, and family can spend the day dining and relaxing on the sundeck, which includes a hot tub and Teppanyaki grill. Or, they can enjoy the beach club.
For off-the-yacht adventures, the Amels 206 carries a few PWCs plus tenders, specifically with two bays for two boats up to 26 feet (8 meters) apiece. Considering the megayacht has an anticipated 5,000-nautical-mile range, adventures aplenty surely lie ahead.
This Amels 206 is among half a dozen megayachts that the shipyard will hand over by summertime. Those other deliveries include two Damen SeaXplorers.
