Some charter yachts are in demand due to their stunning spaces. Others attract attention for myriad reasons. La Datcha “is not afraid to stand out from the crowd,” as Rose Damen, the managing director of Damen Yachting, explains. This 252-footer (77-meter) not only looks different, she is different. She has a remote Russian peninsula, Papua New Guinea, and more in her sights. La Datcha started her extraordinary worldwide journey in Europe, but has so many intriguing, far-flung destinations on her itinerary that you can’t help but get excited.
Having launched over the summer, this SeaXplorer recently departed the Damen Yachting facilities in The Netherlands. From day one, her owner wanted her to explore some of the most remote, beautiful places in existence. In fact, he penned a vision: “Set out on the journey of a lifetime to places others can’t reach.” He added, “exclusive adventures to share with friends and family in total comfort, style, and safety.”
These exclusive adventures are not only for him and his guests, however. Indeed, La Datcha starts her extraordinary journey, and will continue it, purposely for charter guests. The owner is Oleg Tinkoff, who owns the La Datcha Collection of fine, fully staffed vacation villas. (“Datcha” is an alternate spelling of dacha, the Russian word for “vacation home.”)
Some of those villas are in desirable skiing destinations. Similarly, La Datcha will offer heli-skiing trips in Kamchatka, in far eastern Russia. Since she meets IMO Polar Code requirements, icy waters pose no problem. For guests who don’t ski, they can opt for snowscooters, further kept onboard. At the other end of the temperature spectrum, charter guests can go diving in the tropical waters of Papua New Guinea. The megayacht has not only a dive center and decompression chamber, but also a submersible. Two PWCs are available, too.
Overall, La Datcha starts laying the foundation for the most unusual charter vacations available. Destinations with high promise for adventure and low chance of overpopulation are the priority.
“We are looking forward to following her adventures as she heads off to explore the world’s far-reaching destinations,” says Damen. So are we.
