Keeping pace with its customers’ desire to step up to larger boats, Ferretti Yachts decided to dream bigger a few years ago. That dream, the Ferretti Yachts 1000, is a reality, as hull number one slipped into the water this month. She marks another important milestone, too, being the shipyard’s first wide-body yacht.
Taking the top spot in the Ferretti lineup, the megayacht measures 98’9″ (30.13 meters), with an ample beam of 22’3″ (2.28 meters). Launched for a French customer, she has an open-plan main saloon and dining area, in keeping with tradition. The wide-body effect (meaning no side decks) benefits those areas as well as the master suite, also on the main deck. To make all of these areas look and feel more spacious (or, as Ferretti Yachts terms the approach, “Just Like Home”), the Ferretti Yachts 1000 has carved-out bulwark sections and nearly floor-to-ceiling glass. The Ferretti Group’s design and engineering departments, along with Filippo Salvetti, created the styling and naval architecture supporting it.
Inside, meanwhile, the design studio Ideaeitalia offers a choice of two decor themes. This particular owner chose the Classic design, with abundant soft, neutral tones line creams, beiges, browns, and greys. Alternately, customers can select the Contemporary package, which features more greys and blues. Regardless of colors, the overall mood is relaxing, whether you cruise with family or plan to entertain a lot of friends.
Entertainment is certainly a big part of life aboard the Ferretti Yachts 1000, too. The tiered foredeck, for example, has a handful of different seating and sunning areas. The arrangement lets a crowd gather without getting in the way of the crew handling their duties, either. Back aft, glass bulkheads on the main aft deck lend the feeling of being on an infinity deck. Directly below here, aft-facing seating figures prominently on the cascading transom steps. You can opt for a bimini shade over the seating as well. Then, of course, in Ferretti Yachts tradition, yacht has a flying bridge, for lounging, dining, and chatting with the captain.
Further in Ferretti Yachts fashion, the Ferretti Yachts 1000 promises swift speeds. Anticipate a 24-knot max speed and 20-knot cruise with the standard MTU package. Higher-horsepower MTUs should push performance to 28 knots and 24 knots, respectively.
The owner of hull number one should be cruising come summertime. In the meantime, work continues on hulls two and three, each under contract.
