With construction set to begin in the summer of 2024, a new series is coming from Heesen Yachts. The Heesen 50m Steel series will feature looks outside and inside from Harrison Eidsgaard.
This isn’t the first time the Dutch shipyard and UK-based studio have collaborated, either. In fact, they joined forces for Irisha, delivered in 2017. “We appreciate the precision and thoroughgoing organisation of their design processes,” says Rick van de Wetering, Heesen’s COO, adding that the series is “Harrison Eidsgaard’s interpretation of Heesen’s DNA.”
The 164-footer (50-meter) ticks a number of boxes for buyers. She has accommodations for 12, for instance. The Fast Displacement hull form means more fuel efficiency throughout the entire speed range. Customers interested in hybrid technology can opt for that, too. Gross tonnage is just below 500 as well—499, to be specific—keeping regulatory compliance simpler. On the subject of that volume, Peder Eidsgaard, one of the design studio’s directors, says “simplicity and versatility” are the keys to success.
Simplicity translates aboard the Heesen 50m Steel series in the way the crew can do their job. Peder Eidsgaard says the design team paid as much attention to “ensuring that the crew have the perfect working space to deliver a top-notch experience” as it did the guests’ leisure space. This includes having dedicated routes throughout the yacht. It also includes stowing and launching tenders from the foredeck.
As for the guests’ experience, the Heesen 50m Steel provides enjoyable areas whether they’re cruising long term or coming aboard for a day. A good example is the sundeck. It can welcome up to 20 people for, say, an alfresco meal dockside or at anchor. The same deck has a skylight within a coffee table, which means sunlight reaches down into lower decks. Guests who are onboard for a week or more are especially apt to appreciate it. Then, of course, guests onboard for any period of time can enjoy the infinity pool on the aft deck. It’s part of a split-level beach area.
Ultimately, “The design of Heesen’s 50-meter Steel exudes confidence,” Peder Eidsgaard says.
Engineering and final design work is underway, wrapping up in time for the keel laying in about six months.
