Simply put, from skyscrapers to superyachts, the bigger something is, the more we all pay attention. This year certainly saw our staff paying a lot of attention. A handful of truly huge yachts were handed over to their owners. Before we dive into their details, though, we thought a little perspective would help. Placed bow to stern, the yachts listed below, among the largest megayacht deliveries of 2022, are slightly taller than One World Trade Center in New York City. Specifically, they total 1,836 feet, whereas the skyscraper is 1,776 feet.
Of course, each of these yachts on her own is about as tall as a world-famous landmark. So, we’ve included facts about the one nearest in height alongside facts about the yachts.
Blue
The 525-foot-long (160-meter-long) Blue departed Lürssen in July. She has a shipyard-developed diesel-electric system, along with styling and interior design by Terence Disdale’s studio. More significantly, though, Blue (below) is the world’s largest yacht by volume. She comes in at a remarkable 15,320 gross tons. Equally impressive is the Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It’s the same height, plus has done something no other building has. This is the only facility in the world that assembled a rocket carrying humans beyond low-Earth orbit and on to the Moon.

Infinity
Infinity, a.k.a. Oceanco Y719 (pictured at top), comes in at 384 feet (117 meters). She ranks not only among the largest megayacht deliveries of the year, but also as Oceanco’s biggest build to date. Furthermore, she’s the biggest build of any Dutch shipyard. Unfortunately, that’s about all we know about Infinity, since she has remained highly confidential since contract signing several years ago. As for a landmark close to her size, though, nearly 100 years ago the Gasometer Oberhausen opened in Germany. It’s a former housing for gas, currently an art-exhibition hall.
Seven Seas
Seven Seas is yet another Oceanco, which splashed as Y720 in March. Her LOA: about 358 feet (109 meters). She’s a powerful performer, with a top speed of 20 knots. She’s further for a repeat customer of the shipyard, rumored to be renowned director Steven Spielberg. Regardless, her length makes her a little taller than “Old Joe,” a.k.a. the Joseph Chamberlain Memorial Clock Tower at the University of Birmingham in England. It’s the tallest free-standing clock tower in the world.

Project X
The largest megayacht deliveries of the year include this striking-looking launch. Golden Yachts’ Project X, at 289 feet (88 meters), is unmistakable in profile, since giant stacked Xs adorn her superstructure. A three-deck-high atrium sits behind the glass, with a glass elevator traveling within it. Notably, Golden Yachts asserts that the elevator is among the largest glass lifts aboard any private yacht. Topping it all off—literally—is a glass skylight. Further notable, Project X is nearly as large as the Big Buddha statue in Koh Samui, Thailand. One of Thailand’s most popular tourism attractions, it’s 302 feet (92 meters) tall.
Wanderlust
The 280-footer (85.3-meter) has one of the best names for a world traveler. Wanderlust (above) is the latest delivery from SilverYachts in Australia. She has a range of 4,500 nautical miles at a swift 18 knots. Fittingly, during construction, she went by the name Project Globalfast. All guest staterooms are on the main deck, with direct access to the play- and party-oriented aft deck, which has a heli hanger that can double as a disco or cinema. Wanderlust is mere inches smaller than the world’s tallest all-wood building. That honor goes to Norway’s Mjøstårnet.
