Tankoa TX450 Yacht With Crossover Aesthetics Starting Construction

Even with four decks, the Tankoa TX450 yacht remains beneath the 500-gross-ton threshold. With a combination of explorer and classic motoryacht looks, the megayacht is a new model and new contract for Tankoa. But, she’s based on a design that has generated some good interest so far.

In fact, the design draws directly from the Tankoa 450 (below), which has led to two contacts, both under construction, too. Just as she bears styling from Giorgio Cassetta, the crossover version does as well. The crossover also bears resemblance to her sister, purposely to preserve a Tankoa family feel. The difference, though, is that the Tankoa TX450 yacht styling and layout is actually fully custom, with the owner conveying likes and preferences.

It was clear from the start what the owner likes, too. “The concept of the yacht was developed around the idea of exploring the world in comfort,” explains Claudio Corvino, Tankoa’s sales and business development manager. Corvino adds that the owner “has been involved in all the details of the exterior and interior design from day one.”

Notably, the interior design departs from tradition in significant ways. Firstly, none of the guest staterooms are below decks. Rather, they’re all on the main deck, along with the master suite. Secondly, the lounging and conversation areas are primarily on the bridge deck and upper deck. Yet another interesting feature for a 148-footer (45-meter): The Tankoa TX450 yacht has a convertible cabin. Should the need arise, it can serve as a sixth stateroom.

Common creature comforts are still aboard, however. For instance, the owner wants a gym and spa. Fold-down platforms at the stern create an extra-expansive open-air beach club. It further has a pool. The beach club actually becomes even bigger, when the tender and PWCs (stowing on a separate but close level) go in the water. Yet another pool is onboard, though the shipyard hasn’t indicated where.

Tankoa anticipates starting construction soon, since it’s wrapping up the final engineering phase. Delivery should be in 2025.
