When a yacht looks fast sitting still, the owners know they’re in for a thrilling ride. With the launch of their new superyacht, the third hull in the Pershing 140 yacht series, they can expect 35 knots at cruising alone.
The project, the all-aluminum brand flagship, hit the water in late April at the Ferretti Group’s Super Yacht Yard in Ancona, Italy. Notably, the model is the first Pershing to see construction there. (The smaller models are at its Mondolfo, Italy headquarters.)
Just as sleek and sporty-looking as her smaller sisters, the Pershing 140 yacht looks fast because she truly is fast. Her maximum speed from a quadruple setup of MTU engines, with waterjets, should be 38 knots. That’s plenty enough to make it from Miami to the Bahamas or from one major Med port to another by lunchtime.
The best places to take in that ride really depend on the owners’ mood. For example, the sundeck has a sunning area not far from the second helm station. (That helm surely will be the captain’s preferred driving spot, too.) Yet another big sunpad sits aft on the main deck.
Upon arrival, though, even more places open up—some literally. The beach club has three fold-down platforms, for instance. They allow the lounge to look and feel airier, while also allowing the owners and guests to board watertoys. Following a fun day on the toys, the owners and guests can enjoy cocktails together from the bar aft in the main saloon. Interestingly, the bar hides behind doors that blend into the rest of the décor when it’s not in use. Further noteworthy, the owners requested a custom wine display in the saloon as well, forward. Special lighting and mirrors call more attention to it while simultaneously lending a sense of more space.
Though photos aren’t available yet, the décor is highly personalized. Mother of pearl lacquer highlights mosaics in the master bath and guest en suite baths. Pershing’s own in-house design department collaborated with the owners to make abundant use of white lacquer, with contrasting grey wood. Of course, top Italian brands like Poltrona Frau, a longtime Pershing partner, are throughout the yacht as well.
