On a breezy winter day this past weekend, the yacht Project Asia celebrated her official launch at Royal Hakvoort. She’s just a few months away from delivery—and cruising in much warmer temperatures.
Also going by her hull number, YN253, the code-named megayacht has ample guest areas amid her 200-foot (61-meter) length. In fact, staterooms for 12 passengers are aboard, including the primary owners’ suite on a private deck. The suite includes a study and twin baths, along with panoramic views forward. Yet another master suite, with a private lounge, occupies the full beam (38 feet/11.6 meters) on the main deck.
The owners of the yacht Project Asia have been working with Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design to create the look and feel they want. Although specifics on stones, woods, and other décor materials remain confidential, a social atmosphere is certain. The sundeck includes a pool and adjacent sunpads, along with a bar, for instance. The skylounge has a bar, too. Down below, meanwhile, the emphasis is on relaxation, since a massage room and a hammam are in proximity to the beach club. Although many megayachts also have tender garages down below, these owners preferred a main-deck garage, which houses two big tenders. They can launch to port or starboard as well.
Engineered by Diana Yacht Design for a range of nearly 4,000 nautical miles, the megayacht belongs to American owners. (An American flag hangs from her bow during the ceremony.) Prior to this past weekend, the last glimpses of the yacht came in May 2021, when Project Asia headed to Royal Hakvoort from the builder’s hull and superstructure subcontractor.
Speaking of the launch, you’ll further see Hakvoort YN254 in some footage. Also, note how close the homes and businesses of the city of Monnickendam are to the shipyard. It’s not like other builders situated in industrial-only areas.
