Mangusta 165 REV Yacht Series Continues Revving Along

With sea trials set to confirm her 35-knot top speed, the third hull in the Mangusta 165 REV yacht series hit the water on May 3.

The big sister to the Mangusta 104 REV series, the Mangusta 165 REV made its premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2022. This flagship line upholds the racy profile of Mangusta Maxi Open designs of the past, while introducing more sleekly seductive styling. It’s thanks to the shipyard collaborating with Lobanov Design, which took inspiration from 1930s-era sports cars. In fact, cars from that time were longer and lower than cars in the 1920s. They further bore some embellished curves and elongated front ends, simultaneously incorporating some streamlined features.

Of course, the series has stylistic and lifestyle features prevalent in yachting, too. Particularly important to cruisers today, the Mangusta 165 REV yacht has floor-to-ceiling windows. They help eliminate the feeling of being separated from the surrounding seascapes. So, too, do two fold-down balconies, one to each side of the main deck. Similarly, the owner and guests can take in the sights and sounds of gently lapping waves from the 387-square-foot (36-square-meter) beach club.

Enhancing the sense of volume for the Mangusta 165 REV yacht series was important, too. Nowhere does it become more apparent than in the master suite (above, from hull number one). It’s 990 square feet (92 square meters). It’s hard to find a similarly ample stateroom aboard a sub-499-gross-ton megayacht.

Although images aren’t available, the owner of hull three enhanced the overall welcoming look of the suite and the rest of the yacht with M2 Atelier. With the shipyard’s in-house design department, stones and other materials, along with custom furnishings, adorn the relaxation and entertainment spaces. Special touches are outside as well, including a bar and settees on the sundeck.

The owner of the project (the yacht name remains confidential) should take delivery toward the end of June. It’s in plenty of time to enjoy a first summer season in the Med, cruising and playing on watertoys. The owner has two PWCs and a nearly 20-foot (6-meter) tender that stow in a side garage.
