“Smarter than the average bear” often refers jokingly to someone who’s more intelligent than the rest. Calling the yacht Speedy Bear faster than the average is anything but a joke, though, given her expected top end of nearly 30 knots. A yacht owner who has an affection for the fast yachts of Baglietto’s long history celebrated her launch last week.
In fact, prior Baglietto Fast builds like the yacht Monokini (below) and inspired this 144-footer (44-meter). Specifically, Francesco Paszkowski Design, the studio responsible for Monokini’s styling and that of other fast aluminum projects from the shipyard, pays homage to her and her fellow deliveries. Of course, some contemporary spirit is evident, too, especially in the folding platforms flanking the garage. Additionally, and a feature in high demand these days, a pool sits prominently aft near the water.
Although Baglietto isn’t revealing many details about the yacht Speedy Bear, it does say that the owner wanted an alfresco dining area. Naturally, it is on the aft deck, providing some of the best views and simultaneously the feeling of being enveloped in the surroundings. Furthermore, the owner and guests can escape the sun on the flying bridge, thanks to the hardtop, while still enjoying being outdoors.
Specifics about the interior design, by Francesco Paszkowski Design with Margherita Casprini, remain confidential.
Baglietto is conducting sea trials soon, which should confirm a 23-knot cruising speed and a 27-knot top end. MTU engines lay nestled in the engine room.
“Innovation rooted in tradition: This is, in a nutshell, the very essence of this new hull,” according to Fabio Ermetto, Baglietto’s CCO. While the yard calls her a Baglietto 44M Fast project, Ermetto simultaneously considers her fully custom. She has her own hull design, for instance, and her own profile. “She is a yacht that reminds of several historical and yet revolutionary vessels built by Baglietto,” he continues, “while also being a brand-new, one-of-a-kind project.”
