On any given day in any given business, discussions about succession planning take place. Yachting is no different, of course. While the Lürssen family still owns and runs its eponymous shipyard, it’s assembling the team to continue attracting custom-yacht buyers. Luca Raumland, who most recently set up a superyacht division for a builder, is the incoming director of sales and marketing.
With about 20 years’ experience in yachting, Raumland spent nearly the past eight years with Greenline Yachts. Specifically, he served as the chief sales marketing officer through last year, stepping into the chief commercial officer position. Greenline Yachts exclusively builds electric hybrid yachts. Raumland is further the co-founder of GX Superyachts, Greenline Yachts’ one-year-old large-yacht division. This, too, is exclusively building hybrid yachts.
Peter Lürssen, the CEO of Lürssen, has stated previously that he wants the shipyard to construct an emission-free project. Additionally, he revealed in the “50 Sustainability Climate Leaders” documentary that his children convinced him to embrace responsible-yachting practices. “Are there partners, and where are partners, to end the quest to care more for the ocean?” he wondered. Raumland’s experience with more responsible yachting interested him further. “At Lürssen, we take succession seriously,” he states. “We have to make sure the future of the company is in good hands – and that means starting early enough to set up the right team. Together with Luca and Tim Hamilton, we are building the next generation of sales force that combines deep industry knowledge with fresh ideas.”
Raumland is working directly with Michael Breman, who has been the shipyard’s sales director for the past 20 years. He’s additionally taking the helm of the marketing division. Breman notes that Raumland’s “expertise and energy will be of great value as we continue to deliver exceptional yachts and experiences to our clients worldwide.”
Raumland notes Lürssen’s “iconic” status in superyachting He further says, “I look forward to learning from legends like Michael Breman and working hand-in-hand with the new generation to shape the future of the brand.”
Raumland officially starts on April 15.
