With her happy owners and their guests looking on, the yacht Big Naan lowered into the water in Savona, Italy—after, of course, a commemorative burst of red, white, and green smoke. They celebrated alongside local officials and the Columbus Yachts team, a moment a few years in the making.
The 139-foot (42-meter) yacht Big Naan is part of the Columbus Crossover 42 yacht series—hull number one, in fact. She therefore blends long-range, explorer-like lines with abundant open deck space, all penned by Hydro Tec. The space is equally suitable for stowing big watertoys as it is for accommodating guests for day-to-night gatherings. These owners are keeping a pretty big tender on deck, so a davit, blending into the starboard-side bulkhead, is nearby. Additionally, a 183-square-foot (17-square-meter), glass-faced pool is a permanent part of the deck. Loose lounges will welcome sunbathers and guests who simply want to enjoy the views.
The owners, who are American, and a further nine friends and family have other ways of enjoying the great outdoors on their yacht Big Naan, too. An entrance to the beach club sits just to starboard off the swim platform. A hydraulic door provides access. Once inside, everyone is in for a surprise: Huge windows bring light in from the pool.
Although specifics about the interior design, by Hot Lab, still aren’t available, the owners did request four guest staterooms. One of the cabins has a pullman bed as well. Naturally, the owners have their stateroom forward on the main deck—spanning the full 40-foot (9-meter) beam. Hopefully they’ll spend most of their time aboard the yacht Big Naan relaxing, but if work is necessary, the suite has a desk.
Sea trials should confirm that the yacht Big Naan is capable of a 12-knot cruising speed. In keeping with her explorer-inspired physique, her best range should be upwards of 5,500 nautical miles.
Columbus Yachts will deliver her in time for hte owners to enjoy the summer season.
While final fit-out continues, Columbus Yacht simultaneously is constructing another Crossover model, the Crossover 47. She’ll see delivery next year. A Columbus Atlantique 37 semi-custom yacht is in yet another stage of construction.
