Yacht Ocean Angel Makes Heavenly Debut

With looks blending intrepid explorers and sporty pleasure yachts, the yacht Ocean Angel touched water for the first time this month. She’s the latest steel-hulled long-range cruiser in a series from the Italian shipyard Ocean King.

Ocean King created a series, Doge 400, for owners and guests seeking far-off horizons while wanting to enjoy a more intimate experience. The full-displacement steel hull and RINA’s unrestricted navigation classification take care of the former. Upcoming sea trials should confirm a cruising speed of 13 knots and most efficient range exceeding 4,000 nautical miles. The LOA of 132 feet (40.4 meters), meanwhile, caters to clients who aren’t looking for massive megayachts. Her length is even more noteworthy because of her steel hull. Few custom or semi-custom projects in this size range are anything other than fiberglass.

The launch of Ocean Angel comes several months after the first Doge 400, the yacht Lori, splashed. Similarly to her, styling across three decks is by the Italian studio Design aLOT. The design team gave her aft-raked wheelhouse windows and sculpted lines aft. Altogether, they convey purposeful cruising yet keep her from looking out of place in typical yachting destinations.

The owner chose BurdissoCapponi Yachts & Design, another Italian firm, for bringing the interiors vision to fruition. Of course, the materials and the ambience are entirely customized. For example, although five staterooms are onboard, the yacht Ocean Angel can accommodate a party of 12. Wellness was especially important, which explains why the beach club includes a gym, a sauna, and a hammam. Additionally, it has fold-down platforms. Because of space considerations, part of it can do double duty as a tender bay. A telescopic crane is integrated overhead to launch a tender of about 20 feet (6.25 meters) overall.

With a décor reflecting simple elegance and seven crewmembers handling operations, the yacht Ocean Angel will begin cruising in the Med in several weeks.
