Megayacht designers, suppliers, and more will make their way to the Solent in the UK in June for the annual International Superyacht Society Regatta, for fun and for fund raising.
The ISS Regatta, from June 7 to 9, will benefit Sail 4 Cancer for the first time. The ISS Regatta was established to emphasizes camaraderie and networking, and the philanthropic angle evolved out of the fact that Sail 4 Cancer is supported by several superyacht-oriented companies. Sail 4 Cancer is a non-profit that was established in 2001 by a group of sailors who had all lost a loved one to cancer. It therefore sponsors short sailing trips for families affected by the disease. Sail 4 Cancer further funds cancer centers and researchers.
So far eight megayacht companies have committed to participating in the ISS Regatta, including BMT Nigel Gee, which won last year, plus H2 Yacht Design, Hill Dickinson, and International Paint/Awlgrip. The ISS expects four to seven more megayacht participants to join the race, too. Racers will rent one-design boats like the ones shown here, from last year’s ISS Regatta, and are welcome to have friends and clients crew them.
