New parents often put their new baby at the center of their world. So, perhaps the owner of the fittingly named Universe is doing the same. She’s the latest delivery from Amels from its Amels 242 range.
Measuring 242’9” (74 meters), with an equally commodious beam of 40 feet (12.45 meters), the 242 debuted in 2016 with the launch of Plvs Vltra. A second delivery followed last year, christened New Secret. Representing hull number three, Universe splashed this past May.
Since she’s part of Amels’ Limited Editions range, Universe has a set engineering platform. Devised by the builder’s in-house naval-architecture department, she should enjoy a 5,000-nautical-mile range at 12½ knots and achieve a top speed of 16½ knots.
With styling by Tim Heywood, the Amels 242 still affords owners the opportunity to tailor the profile to their liking. For instance, the owner of New Secret requested extended upper decks. Unfortunately, the shipyard hasn’t disclosed the requests, if any, for Universe. Regardless, one noticeable difference is the color combination. While Plvs Vltra and New Secret are all white, the new megayacht has a sandy-tone hull.
Amels additionally has not revealed the interior arrangement or decor of Universe. However, it does say that the owner worked with Winch Design to execute the interior design. Certainly the master suite promises to be impressive, since it’s part of an overall owner’s deck. That deck spans 2,580 square feet (240 square meters), typically including a forward-facing bedroom, to take advantage of the views. Generally speaking, the 242 also offers two VIP suites on the main deck, as well as three guest staterooms below decks. In addition, the lower-deck staterooms can lead directly aft to a spa/wellness area.
To get a sense of the possibilities, here’s a look at New Secret, released by Amels just a few weeks ago.
