It’s fitting that the owner who inked the deal for the first Benetti Diamond 145 christened the yacht Ink. Now on her maiden voyage, the megayacht can put her long range and modern-classic appeal to the test.
Delivery comes not long after her launch in January, which in turn was a few months after the owner stepped in to the project (started on spec). The Diamond 145 series is part of the Benetti Class lineup, therefore appealing due to her fiberglass semi-custom construction.
Having enjoyed yacht ownership previously, and having firm ideas, the client opted for two VIPs and two twins. The twins additionally can convert to double cabins. From these staterooms to the main-deck master and up to the skylounge, Ink makes good use of woods, marbles, leathers, and additional fine materials. Particularly, Ink shows off oak, burnished brass, carbon fiber, and tones of brown, grey, and white. Since abundant glass rims the decks—80 percent of the upper deck features windows, in fact—the megayacht has a naturally bright and welcoming ambiance.
While the 646-square-foot (60-square-meter) owner’s suite clearly has quite an enviable footprint, so, too, do other areas onboard. For instance, Benetti says the sundeck is the most spacious among yachts in this size range (145 feet, or 44.06 meters). Specifically, it encompasses nearly 1,100 square feet (102 square meters). This translates to plenty of elbow room for guests who wish to sunbathe aft while others prefer lounging or dining forward.
Additionally, while the upper-deck pool surely will be popular, Ink’s beach club may rival it for attention. The owner requested seating and a bar, inches from options like swimming or boarding watertoys. (The tender and toys are in a dedicated side garage). “Inches” is the key word. The beach club threshold is about eight inches (20 centimeters) higher than the swim platform.
As Ink travels this summer, she has a reported 5,000-nautical-mile range at 11 knots to stretch out. Her 1,400-MANs further should allow a 14-knot cruising speed. On another technical front, Benetti equipped her with an air-treatment system. It filters out dust and water particles, plus exchanges the air throughout six times each hour.
