Six months following delivery, we’re getting better looks at the retro-chic style of Blue II. Despite looking like a classic steam ship, this private yacht has modern amenities and engineering, especially to be more environmentally mindful.
Following her maiden voyage last August, this 184-foot (55.99-meter) megayacht has global explorations in sight. In fact, her owner wants to venture to the Polar Regions and through the Northwest Passage. Therefore, she meets ice-classification standards for moderate ice conditions. Additionally, to help minimize her footprint regardless of destination, Blue II has Caterpillar diesel-electric propulsion, further meeting Tier III emissions requirements. Notably, these are both firsts for her builder, Turquoise Yachts.
To ensure good engineering, simultaneously in a classically styled way, the owner turned to Hoek Design. The studio is, of course, renown for traditionally appealing, graceful sailing yachts. But, just as she marks a first for Turquoise Yachts, Blue II marks a first for Hoek Design, too. Specifically, she’s the Dutch studio’s first motoryacht project.
Among her exterior areas, fold-down balconies and wide-open deck areas beckon. Blue fabrics call to mind the sea, the sky, as well as the Golden Age of Yachting. Though, these areas still cater to contemporary cruisers. For instance, the alfresco dining area can host breakfasts or switch to cocktails, when the crew lowers the table to coffee-table height. Since tenders are part of onboard life, under-deck stowage conceals a Novurania limo tender, two PWCs, and a small sub.
Inside, meanwhile, the 785-gross-ton yacht combines subtle throwback looks with modern musts. London-based Vickers Studio and Amsterdam-based Dols & Co. joined forces here. Teak highlights the upper-deck owners’ suite, main-deck VIP, and four below-decks guest staterooms. Guests can relax in the sauna and steam room, or the Turkish bath, after a hard day of watertoy play. Even more relaxing, a massage room is available.
Finally, for your own relaxing adventures aboard, Burgess represents Blue II for charter.
