Heesen Yachts wished fair skies and following seas to the owners and crew of Ela, its newest delivery, last month. While the owners are enjoying their maiden voyage in the Mediterranean, people like you can vacation aboard thanks to select charter dates in the future.
Acquired in April by her owners—Ela began on spec as Project Altea—the 163’4” (49.8-meter) megayacht is a fast-displacement design. Construction is all aluminum, too. She sees a top speed just shy of 20 knots with twin MTU engines, and of course transatlantic range at cruising speed. Specifically, Ela should be able to cover 3,750 nautical miles at 12 knots. Since her draft is seven feet (2.15 meters), the owners can put plenty of skinny-water destinations on their must-visit list.
Even though just three months spanned the time between when the owners bought Ela and took delivery, they still had the opportunity to personalize parts of the interior. In fact, they did so with Cristiano Gatto of the eponymous design studio as well as Heesen’s own interiors team. “We revisited all the loose furniture, inside and out, selecting new materials for all the upholstery and the key items from Paola Lenti, B&B Italia, Potrona Frau, and Promemoria,” explains Gatto. “But more importantly, we designed bespoke pieces, such as tables, sofas, and lamps, all beautifully crafted by Italian ateliers, who delivered them in record time.”
Ten additional friends and family can enjoy living within that atmosphere. While the master suite sits on the main deck, the full-beam VIP, two doubles, and two twins are below decks. Altogether, Ela has 3,767 square feet (350 square meters) of interior lounging and relaxing space.
Equally noteworthy, Ela is the first Heesen megayacht with a battery system to complement and lessen reliance on gensets. The system can kick in when electric loads peak, thereby eliminating the need for additional gensets and further lowering emissions.
