“This is a unique Christmas present,” says Fabio Ermetto, CCO of Baglietto. Not only did the shipyard recently sell the eighth Baglietto T52 hull, but also marked an even bigger milestone. The sale is its eighth contract of 2022 for a yacht between 134 and 197 feet (41 and 60 meters). It’s the most new-build business in its 160-plus-year history.
As part of the redesigned T Line, this new T52 is a 171-footer (51-meter) with styling and interiors by Francesco Paszkowski Design. The “T” in “T52” signifies “Tradition,” since the series blends some of the familiar historic looks of Baglietto deliveries with contemporary character. Long, lean, sporty lines combine with modern desires like oversize windows and larger alfresco areas. (See more of the looks in the video below.)
This Baglietto T52, a full-displacement design, will also have hybrid propulsion. The shipyard anticipates the 171-footer to see a range of 3,600 nautical miles around 11 knots with twin Caterpillar C32s. (On a related note, previous customers have requested MTUs in the hybrid package.) Top speed, meanwhile, should be 16 knots. Based on other Baglietto deliveries with hybrid propulsion, diesel-electric mode should permit range to increase to 7,600 nautical miles. Additionally, battery-only mode at anchor will keep hotel loads powered overnight with no interruption.
Whether enjoying a quiet night at anchor or taking in the sights, the owner and guests have several features onboard to enjoy, too. The Baglietto T52 sundeck, for instance, is 78 feet (24 meters) long. This makes it one of the largest on any megayacht in this size range, too. One deck below, the skylounge has opening glass on three sides, transforming it into more of an alfresco relaxation and dining area. Surely to be one of the most-enjoyed areas, the megayacht has a three-level beach area, with an opening transom. It includes a pool with a raising floor, to make it flush with the rest of the deck level when it’s not in use. This in turn creates more floor space for big parties, for example, or just more room for the party of 12 to spread out.
The owner’s project-management team isn’t revealing details about the general arrangement. However, Max Bulley of Y.CO does say, “The amenities and layout are impressive for a yacht in this size range.”
Anticipate delivery in 2025.
