For a 245-year-old, the United States of America looks pretty good, we think. So, too, do a number of cruisers. This weekend, they’re taking to the waterways to celebrate Independence Day with family and friends. Of course, large-yacht owners are doing the same—and some may be in your own backyard waters. Here’s a little superyacht spotting for July Fourth.
Alaska
Aurora. Though several large yachts have this name, this Aurora is 105 feet (32 meters) LOA. She’s a rugged cruiser from Nordhavn and reached the Ketchikan area just days ago.
Liberty. Fittingly, superyacht spotting for July Fourth involves an Independence Day themed yacht. Liberty, a 108-footer (33-meter), arrived in Alaska after departing California.
California
Attessa IV. At 328 feet (100 meters), Attessa IV (below) is hard to miss. She calls Southern California home. Eagle-eyed yacht spotters saw her in San Diego this week, for instance.
Eminence. Eminence has chartered on both sides of the Atlantic and is exploring the Pacific this summer. She’s in San Diego, too. LOA: 257 feet (78 meters).
Florida
Lady Michelle. If you’re a fan of the Bravo series Below Deck Mediterranean, then you’re seeing the 180-footer (55-meter) in the current season, filmed last year in Croatia. Currently, Lady Michelle is in Miami.
Out of the Blue. Some owners name their yachts for family members. These owners chose a classic rock album—specifically, an ELO album from 1977. The yacht is a Sunseeker 116, presently in Miami.
Massachusetts
Avanti. Seeking to buy a superyacht? Take a look at this Lürssen, celebrating America’s independence in the patriotic city of Boston. The 200-footer (61-meter) has a dive center.
Elfje. This ketch (top) is in Nantucket, having arrived from Newport. Her name means “elf” or “fairy” in Dutch. Her owner is a passionate sailing racer—and a woman, too.
New York
Gene Machine. Superyacht spotting for July Fourth has to include the Big Apple, where Gene Machine (below) has been for several weeks already. Her support yacht, Game Changer, even joined her for a bit.
Sycara V. While Sag Harbor and Montauk are popular Long Island locales for yachting, Greenport just as picturesque. This 224-footer (68-meter) arrived a few days ago.
Rhode Island
Netanya 8. The 190-foot (58-meter) Netanya 8 made quick work of cruising the Mid-Atlantic before arriving in Newport. In June she made stops in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and New York.
Zenji. Zenji also visited New York City before heading to Newport. She’s active on the superyacht regatta circuit, measuring 184 feet (56 meters).
Washington
Aphrodite. Seattle is just down the coast from where Aphrodite, a Westport 130, launched over a decade ago. Notably, she had just one owner for nearly all of that time.
Sinbad. If home is where the heart is, then this 126-footer (38-meter) is quite happy. She’s in Seattle, the same city where Delta Marine built her.
