Serious explorer yachts belong to cruisers as serious about technical standards as they are about a comfortable ambience underway. One such yacht owner eager to spend as much time at sea as possible has taken delivery of RJ, from Cantiere delle Marche.
Interestingly, this owner didn’t commission the yacht’s original contract. Instead, the client came into the project, through Camper & Nicholsons, after yet another Camper customer decided to sell her with work already begun. The foundations of that robust yet refined work, along with the shipyard’s reputation for capable, reliable explorers, made the transition relatively simple. It was pleasurable, too, for the shipyard, according to Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and sales and marketing director. “It is inspiring and a reason of pride to see that a growing number of experienced and motivated owners prefer CdM to build their yachts.”
Besides having social and private areas for a party of 10 people, the 129-foot (39.42-meter) RJ has notable technical aspects. The owner specially requested them, too. Firstly, the megayacht meets two special RINA classification standards, Comfort Class and MON-SHAFT. Comfort Class means sound- and vibration-attenuation methods comply with stricter standards. MON-SHAFT, meanwhile, means a shaft temperature-monitoring system governs some of the related bearings. A surveyor can check the data from the system rather than require the yacht to be hauled for inspection.
Of course, the owner was hands-on for interior and exterior design, too. For instance, grey hull paint and dark-painted details highlight her styling, by Francesco Paszkowski Design. Additionally, various woods, leathers, metals, and fabrics contrast and complement one another throughout the interior. Whether hosting dinner parties or cruising more privately, the owner of RJ strove to create a warm, welcoming environment.
In related shipyard news, a sistership just sold to an Australian buyer, through Cantiere delle Marche’s newly dedicated office in that country. This marks the fourth hull in the RJ series, as well as the third one sold just this year.
