While it’s just a glimpse, Princess Yachts is providing an early look at its latest megayacht model. The Princess Y80 joins a handful of other Y Class series offerings after hull number one launches next year.
The Y Class unites flying-bridge motoryachts and superyachts with sporty, fashionable styling and good turns of speed. Each project embraces, among other things, the current trends of enlarging glass as much as possible on the main deck to benefit the saloon and dining areas. Additionally, the Y Class puts a good emphasis on performance. Currently, it includes models like the Princess Y85, which hits a max speed around 30 knots, and the top-of-the-line Y95 (above), with a wavepiercing bow and 24-knot maximum speed.
The Princess Y80 promises owners several choices to ensure the semi-custom megayacht looks and feels truly theirs. For example, the 83’7” (25.5-meter) yacht can come with either an open or an enclosed main deck. The main deck includes the wheelhouse, although of course a second steering station sits on the flying bridge. Additionally, buyers can select from a few main aft-deck configurations—none of which are public as of this writing, however. Overall, the Y80 has accommodations for a party of eight, who can enjoy anticipated top speeds of 30 to 32 knots.
Regardless, the video does show that the Princess Y80 features a socially oriented foredeck, with a seating area facing a sunpad. The shipyard says it’s a new design for the range. The video further hints at a main-deck layout option offering the dining area opposite an open, bar-style galley. Expected from a flying-bridge motoryacht, the flybridge combines sunning, dining, and generally spending the day enjoying the fresh ocean breezes. Finally, the Y80 will come with a variety décor options, from woods to stones and tones to textures.
The shipyard should reveal full details within the next month, since the fall yacht-show season kicks off.
