To date, upwards of 50 Amels Limited Editions yachts are floating in harbors around the world. Each of their launches has been a solo affair, though, meaning none has slipped into the water alongside another. That changed this week, with Damen Yachting splashing two Amels Limited Editions yachts. It celebrated the launch of the eighth Amels 242 and fourth Amels 200.
The Amels 242, whose name is confidential for now, joins a family that includes deliveries like M&EM, Avanti, Synthesis, and Plvs Vltra. The Amels 200, which also is currently confidential, is the same series that includes deliveries like Stella M. As with other Amels Limited Editions yachts, both bear distinctive styling by Tim Heywood, which Damen Yachting permits owners to customize. Coincidentally, both owners chose Winch Design for the interiors, too, further taking advantage of extensive customization.

Amels 242 Hull Number 8
There will be no mistaking the Amels 242 when she begins cruising next June. The owner had his heart and mind set on a blue hull. In fact, the owner, his team, and Damen Yachting all took a good look at the different hues of blue. Ultimately, flag blue won, which combines with oyster white for the topsides. Besides the long stretches of windows breaking up the white, there’s also grey outlining vertical sections.
Interesting, the owner of this Amels 242 so loves the color blue that it predominates inside. Winch Design infuses it in the saloons, staterooms, and foyers. In fact, the main guest entry greets everyone with a wall of semi-precious agate blue stones. Blue mosaics catch the eye in the wellness area below decks, while multiple blue marbles appear throughout the decks. That includes the dedicated owner’s deck.

Amels 200 Hull Number 4
Similarly, the owner of the Amels 200 wanted to personalize a number of areas and features onboard. Firstly, since he and his family will combine remote work and entertaining over long periods onboard in the Med, extra comfortable spaces were important. For entertaining, every deck has an alfresco bar. For entertaining as well as the family’s peaceful passages, a second balcony complements the main deck. Although Damen Yachting says the owner’s experience with prior yachts meant he had a lot of “exciting design ideas,” it’s not elaborating further. However, it does add that this Amels 200 has a whisper grey hull, a color picked up in the superstructure’s curves plus the glass windbreakers on various decks.
Each of these Amels Limited Editions yachts has accommodations for 12. The Amels 242 has a crew of 18 plus a captain, while the Amels 200 has a crew of 12 plus a captain.
Finally, each sees delivery next year, for private use.
